What is EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured psychotherapy modality that helps resolve and manage trauma, and other psychological issues. EMDR encourages the patient to briefly focus on a traumatic memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma. EMDR therapy facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience to bring about less distress and impact on one’s functioning.
